In this small mining town,
rumors say that there is a curse on Mariana Montenegro because every man
who falls in love with her suffers a fatal accident. Mariana is a young,
romantic woman, who likes to dream and is a mother orphan that lives with
her father, Atilio. He is the owner of the mine, a powerful man with
strong character that can be cruel when someone opposes his will, and that
keeps a secret that corrodes his soul: Mariana is not his daughter, and
his feelings for her are far from being paternal.
Atilio has two sisters.
Isabel, the older one, is a loving and good woman that has raised Mariana
and loves her as she was her own daughter. Marcia, the younger one, is
arrogant and conceited, tough with the miners, and a cold hearted that
never has known love, until Ignacio Lugo Navarro appears in town, an
attractive young man who has arrived under a false name, in search of his
roots.
Once Ignacio meets Mariana, he realizes that he could never love another woman, and Mariana also surrenders to him in body and soul. But Marcia falls madly for Ignacio and jealousy consumes her when she discovers that he and Mariana have married in secret. Furious and broken hearted, Marcia tells her brother about the marriage, and Atilio is determined to kill Ignacio not being aware that he has sentenced to death his own son, product of a romance he had with Lucrecia, the owner of the town’s tavern. Nevertheless, destiny saves Ignacio’s life when an accident occurs in the mine. Mariana realizes that Atilio is not her father and she is horrified knowing that he is in love with her. Desperate and believing that she is damned indeed, Mariana flees from the town carrying in her womb Ignacio’s son. Marcia takes advantage of the situation and marries a man she doesn’t love to get pregnant, but after she has an abortion, she finds the way to seduce Ignacio and steals Mariana’s son, who she makes all believe it’s her own to coerce Ignacio to marry her. Marcia takes advantage of the situation and marries a man she doesn’t love to get pregnant, but after she has an abortion, she finds the way to seduce Ignacio and steals Mariana’s son, who she makes all believe it’s her own to coerce Ignacio to marry her. Mariana’s story is a heart rendering and exciting tale; an amazing and complex plot of intrigue and dark secrets that dominate the life of a small mining town full of unforgettable characters; of superstitions, rumors and legends. Like the legend of the beautiful woman who always dresses in black, because there is a terrible curse… in her Dark Fate. |
