Maria is a humble girl from
the slums who goes to work to Don Fernando de la Vega's mansion when
left alone in the world. She is there despised by Doña Victoria and Luis
Fernando, Don Femando's wife and son, respectively. Soraya, supposedly Luis Fernandos cousin, wants to marry him. Therefore, she also becomes Marias enemy and aids Luis Fernando and his mother. Maria decisively and without fear confronts them. Luis Fernando is not able to dominate Maria and decides to court her in order to deceive her, without imagining that they would both fall in love. Soraya realizes the whole situation and thinks she is loosing Luis Fernando. To avoid it, she pretends to be pregnant, and puts pressure on him until they get married. As time goes by, Luis Fernando discovers Sorayas lies, and that she has a lover. The same time, she has an accident and all believe her dead.Luis Fernando and Maria get married but, due to a misunderstanding, he believes Maria has been unfaithful to him. He decides to abandon her, although knowing that she is pregnant. Maria, hurt by what has happened, falls ill. Mentally unbalanced at the time, she gives birth to a child. She gives him away in a park to Agripina, a poor and ignorant candy seller, who accepts him as her son. Shortly afterwards, Luis Fernando regretfully returns to Mexico and reconciles with Maria. She overcomes her illness, but tirelessly repeats she gave birth to a child. Luis Femando believes it is only an obsession and they adopt a girl they call Maria de los Angeles (Tita).The years go by. Nandito, the son Maria gave away, lives in extreme poverty and once, desperate for saving Agripina's life, he steals in Maria and Luis Fernandos residence. Maria soon finds out that the burglar is her son and helps him secretly, provoking bad thoughts and misunderstandings about her. Full of anger, Luis Femando wants to kill Nandito, but Maria intervenes revealing that he is their son. Happiness doesn't come yet. Soraya is back, wanting revenge... The easiest way? Nandito, the son of Maria and Luis Fernando.. |
